camping

 little frogs

 following a lizard

saved the s'more.  i love the dirty milk bottle in the background.

I went into the tent to check on the kids after they had gone to sleep, and found Carly deep in her sleeping bag with her foot on the pillow.

We squeezed in a camping trip the first weekend in August right before school started back up again.  We headed just a couple hours away in the mountains.  Half of the drive we were on some pretty windy roads.  Poor Carly.  We learned she gets pretty car sick and we were more prepared coming back with a bucket she held.  I think that was our only challenge. We had a great little hike over to a little beach area where the kids could play in some shallow water, and close by there was a big rock to climb on.  Jake caught a couple of little wood frogs, tiny things, and showed them to the kids.  There were also a few lizards around too.  In the evening, around dinner time, some geese found us.  It was funny how they made a b-line for the shore where we were, which was also a little picnic area.  It was obvious they knew where to find tourists and their food.  The kids had fun naming them and feeding them.  Erik called them Goosey Goosey. Later we got in a little practice fishing, and tried again the next morning with no luck, but still a fun time.
