a bright spot

I've been feeling pretty down lately. I've been thinking a lot about cousin Jake's passing, and his service to our country, and most especially how much is fiancee, daughter, siblings and mother must be missing him. However, this video, everytime I watch it, cheers me up. It's of Carly, and I think it is thanks to our little next door neighbor friend that Carly has started to sing for everyone (from miles around) to enjoy. She had already been singing for about 10 minutes straight before I got the camera out. I ended it before she caught sight of me. I didn't want to make her feel embarrassed. I'm hoping to catch this on camera again sometime.

Oleander project

The last couple of Saturdays Jake, and Dad and I have been working on the removal of the oleander stumps. Last year we had cut back the huge bushes and painted the stumps with concentrated roundup. It worked mostly, but then this spring, parts of the stumps errupted again with new growth. We considered a stump grinder, but decided on trying to get the root ball out. These things are massive! Dad and Jake got out 5 of them last saturday, including the biggest one of the bunch. The kids have really loved playing in the holes left behind. They loved helping on saturday also.

my kind of craft

I found this neat coat hanger at a thrift store. I painted over the middle part, it was a print of a landscape. I got this great vinyl lettering from my sister in law Gretchen. She has her own business of vinyl lettering. vinylvixens.blogspot.com
The lettering already comes spaced, all I did was peel off the back and press it on, then peel off the top. My kind of project! Thanks Gretchen!
