real or not real

On our drive to pick up the older kids from school, Annelise asked me to answer if someone was real or not real when she said who they were.  Oh no! I hoped she wouldn't ask me a hard one.  Here is how it went.
Policeman
real
Fireman
real
Superheroes
not real
Then i think she paused to reflect on that last one.
That was it.
Then a few days later she got a letter in the mail.  She was soooo excited!
A - Who's it from ?!
M- Great Grandma Barbara
A - You mean she's real??!!!

Here's another real or not real... this time with Carly.

Annelise wrote a letter to the Easter Bunny which I mailed for her.  A little while later she got an awesome package in the mail from the Easter Bunny.  It had a pretty fabric flower and chocolates to share and a letter.  Needless to say she was thrilled.  As she was opening the package Carly says something like, The Easter Bunny's not real, right? I told her someone had to send the package.  That was it.  Then, after kids are in bed, Carly comes back out with an envelope in her hand.  Can you mail this to the Easter Bunny?

This past month

February came and went pretty fast, almost like it was the shortest month of the year. We celebrated Erik's 1st birthday in traditional Voelckers fashion; he got to make a mess of himself with his OWN piece of cake!

What’s this stuff?  I think I’ll eat some just like everything else I find…

Back off, Isaac, this cake is MINE!

And….it’s gone!  He ate all of it.
The kids made him some presents as well, Nick made a hat and Annelise made a scarf for him.

He had a great time, he sure loves his siblings and cousins.
